Patient Case Study
A 35-year-old man, fell while skiing. The initial radiographic assessment was carried out on site showing no fracture.
Three weeks later the patient reported he was still in pain. To further assess what may be causing him pain, we did an ultrasound of his shoulder. The ultrasound showed an uneven aspect of the cortex of the greater tuberosity which suggested the patient had a fracture. To further assess this patient, x-ray images were taken of his shoulder. Using these images, it was identified that the patient had a condensed aspect of the trochanter without associated fracture.
However, when Arterys’ Chest I MSK AI clinical application analyzed the x-ray images, a fracture was detected. The x-ray images were re-read using the cloud-native application’s zero-footprint viewer and zoom-in feature and the line of fracture was identified (non-displaced fracture in the process of consolidation).
